What is the Peyote Cactus and It’s Much Talked About Peyote Buttons

A peyote cactus (lophophora williamsii) does not have a spine. This cactus comes from the kingdom plantae. Its order is caryophyllales and its family is cactaceae. Its genus is lophophora, and that is why it is referred to us the cactaceae lophophora. This type of cactus is very tiny and if it were not the fact that it is a cactus thus noticeable,
people would not notice it at all. The peyote cactus has its origin in two main areas in the Southwest region. Texas, Arizona and New Mexico is one of them and Northern Mexico is the other. If a place has limestone, then it is possible to spot a peyote cactus. That is why it was initially spotted at the desert called Chihuahuan. There are also states that have limestone that initially housed this cactus, San Luis Potosi not forgetting the Tamaulipas.
Peyote causes some psychological changes when in the system of a human being through ingestion. There are some Americans who put the peyote cactus in high regard because to them it is completely medicinal, yet for others it is completely recreational. Despite the fact that it is a cactus, there are times in the year when they blossom. The most visible aspect of their bloom is pinkish flowers. This only happens in the months of March, April and May. When the peyote cactus blooms, fruit emerges too, not just the pink flowers. These fruits can be eaten and not cause any health harm compared to other wild fruit. There is no way the peyote cactus will blossom in cold climate, which is why they thrive very well in deserts. 
The famous peyote buttons are found in the crown peyote cactus. The crown is the part of the peyote cactus that slowly blooms on top of the soil. In fact, the majority of the peyote cactus plant is under the soil. That is why they are called “peyote buttons” because without the crown then the peyote button will not be there. These peyote buttons are responsible for the proper growth of the roots. This only happens if the peyote buttons, which assume the disc shape, are properly trimmed. This trimming prevents the roots from rotting because a callus is already created due to the trimming. It is this callus that makes the root grow well, it practically aerates the root so that it does not decay. These peyote buttons can also eaten by people. There are people who like them all dried up and not succulent at all. When they are in this state, they later cud it in their mouths. Then there are those who would rather have it in their tea. They say that peyote tea has a very calming effect.
